Purchs, which is building intelligent ordering and replenishment infrastructure for grocery, today announced the appointment of Suyash Sumaroo as Chief Technology Officer.

Sumaroo is a technology leader and software architect with more than 18 years of experience in software engineering, architecture and technical leadership. His expertise spans artificial intelligence, enterprise software, cloud technologies, blockchain and full-stack development. Across his career he has led the design and delivery of complex software systems in a range of industries and international markets, with a particular focus on software architecture, engineering practice, product development and the practical adoption of AI.

The appointment marks a return rather than an arrival. Sumaroo led the team that built the original Purchs MVP before founding CodeAura, and rejoins the company to own its technology strategy and engineering organization as Purchs scales.

As CTO, Sumaroo will lead engineering, architecture and AI development, including the continued build-out of Purchs' agentic and predictive capabilities, which turn a merchant's plain-language text message into a clean, structured purchase order routed to the right supplier.

He joins at a point of growing recognition for the company. Purchs was one of nine companies selected for the MaRS Food & Agtech accelerator and one of ten selected for Elevate's Moneris Ecommerce North Accelerator.
